Emily Graeber

Emily Graeber has given public accounts of being sent to Island View after a wilderness program and remaining there for about 17 months. In a first-person Breaking Code Silence account, she described Island View as a locked residential treatment center in Syracuse and alleged level-system punishments, silence, isolation, strip searches, and restraints. KUER also interviewed Graeber in 2020 and reported that she described being placed in isolation for 58 days after an escape attempt (Breaking Code Silence, KUER).

Misha Osherovich

Actor, filmmaker, and advocate Misha Osherovich has publicly described being sent to youth treatment programs as a teenager, including Island View in Utah. In a KUER interview, Osherovich discussed shame, fear of not being believed, and the toll that treatment programs took on their family. In a Them interview, they described being taken from home by an escort service at age 15, sent across the country, and experiencing highly controlled facility conditions; they also likened the treatment of queer expression in those settings to conversion therapy (KUER, Them).

Finn Richardson

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Finn Richardson, a former Elevations resident, filed a 2024 lawsuit alleging that Elevations RTC abused and neglected him, failed to report his child-abuse allegation, and kept him at the facility against his mother's wishes. These are allegations in Richardson's lawsuit unless and until a court or regulator makes findings on the claims (The Salt Lake Tribune).
