2025 lawsuit report

FOX Carolina reported in May 2025 that a federal lawsuit accused Whetstone Academy of failing to protect a child resident from sexual assault. The article said the child attended Whetstone from September to November 2024 and that the family alleged inadequate supervision and unsafe conditions (FOX Carolina).

Whetstone denied responsibility for the allegations in its response as described by FOX Carolina. The school told the station that allegations had been reported to South Carolina DSS, that it cooperated with DSS, that DSS found the allegations unfounded, and that no criminal charges were filed.
