Whetstone Academy is a therapeutic boarding school in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Chattooga River in South Carolina. The National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs lists Whetstone as a full member therapeutic boarding school and says it was founded in 2011 on a 57-acre campus with a lake and farm (NATSAP).

The NATSAP profile describes Whetstone as serving boys ages 10-15 in grades 6-10. It lists a typical stay of 12-18 months, for-profit status, CARF and Cognia accreditation, and Dr. John Singleton as chief executive officer. The program describes a relational, trauma-informed model focused on behavioral, academic, social, and emotional skills.

In 2025, FOX Carolina reported on a federal lawsuit alleging that Whetstone failed to protect a child resident from sexual assault. Whetstone told the station that it cooperated with the South Carolina Department of Social Services and that DSS found the allegations unfounded; the report also noted that no charges were filed (FOX Carolina).
