Resident interviews in the ADAP report

The 2020 Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program report summarized interviews with boys at Sequel Courtland. The report attributed allegations to residents who described being slammed to the ground by staff, not receiving needed medical attention, living in unsafe or unsanitary conditions, and receiving limited education while at the facility. These are public allegations summarized from the advocacy agencies' report, not court findings (ADAP/SPLC/Children's Rights letter).

Hunter C. lawsuit allegations

The civil complaint filed on behalf of Hunter C. alleged that he was abused by peers and staff during a 2018 placement at Sequel TSI of Courtland. The complaint described the facility as violent and neglectful and sought damages for alleged injuries and trauma. The allegations are presented as claims from the lawsuit (complaint copy).
