2008 Human-rights investigation

The Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission's Human Rights Authority investigated a 2008 allegation involving services on Maryville's residential campus in Des Plaines. The published report states that the accepted allegation concerned abuse of a resident and reviewed Maryville's response, records, and relevant residential-campus practices (Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission).

2016 end of Des Plaines residential care

In June 2016, WTTW reported that Maryville Academy would stop housing children on its residential campus for the first time since its nineteenth-century founding. Maryville attributed the change to Illinois budget cuts and said other agency services would continue (WTTW).

2023 Walsh Academy relocation

Maryville opened Walsh Academy in Niles in fall 2023. Chicago Catholic reported in January 2024 that the school had moved to a 56,000-square-foot former elementary-school building at 6935 W.
