Runaways and labor scrutiny

In 2016, NBC San Diego reported that the San Diego County Sheriff's Department had investigated 29 instances of teens running from Sovereign Health Group's Rancho San Diego facility in 2015. The report placed the adolescent facility in East County and discussed safety concerns tied to those runaways (NBC San Diego).

In 2019, KGTV reported that California labor officials ordered the East County treatment center to pay back employees. The report identified the site as Sovereign Health's local teen facility in Rancho San Diego (KGTV).
