Sheppard Pratt operated an Ellicott City psychiatric hospital campus after leasing the former Taylor Manor property in 2002. Sheppard Pratt's own history states that the Ellicott City site was a freestanding psychiatric campus formerly known as Taylor Manor and that the lease expanded psychiatric inpatient services in Howard County (Sheppard Pratt history).

The Ellicott City campus included adolescent inpatient services. Sheppard Pratt's care finder described the Adolescent Unit at Ellicott City as a secure 17-bed inpatient unit for adolescents ages 12-17 (Sheppard Pratt adolescent unit).

Sheppard Pratt later opened a new hospital campus in Elkridge, and public summaries describe the Ellicott City campus as closing with that transition. The broader Sheppard Pratt system continues to operate psychiatric and behavioral-health services in Maryland (Howard County, Sheppard Pratt).
