In 2017, Red River Youth Academy publicly warned that Oklahoma budget cuts could threaten psychiatric residential treatment services. CEO Amy Steely described Red River as a 64-bed psychiatric residential treatment facility, and local news reported that the Norman program provided residential psychiatric treatment to 52 adolescents at the time (Red River Youth Academy, KOCO).
