Unsilenced publishes a former student account by Kelley, covering 1996 to 1997, under the title "A Better Way Youth Academy dba Robert Louis Stevenson dba Coral Reef Academy." Kelley wrote that she was sent first to Utah and then to Western Samoa during the program's first month, when it was called Robert Louis Stevenson Youth Academy. Her account describes a coeducational early population, staff instability, anti-gay conversion aims as she understood her placement, physical abuse, and sexual misconduct by night guards.
