Bryan Jones Wrongful-Death Case

In Department of Human Resources v. Johnson, the Georgia Court of Appeals described a wrongful-death action brought by Parthenia Johnson after the death of her son Bryan Jones at Broken Shackle Ranch. The opinion stated that Bryan was 15, in state custody, and placed at Broken Shackle, which was licensed as a child-caring institution.

2021 Escapes

In July 2021, WGXA reported that six juveniles had escaped from Broken Shackle Ranch within two weeks and described the ranch as a private facility for young men who were often given a choice between placement there and jail.
